WHO ARE YOU?  

You are an energetic and entrepreneurial finance leader who is ready to build and lead the Finance Team for a growth-oriented Insurtech. You have over seven years of progressive experience in Financial Management roles and are ready to take on more of a leadership role, with more responsibilities and ambitious goals. You are ready to hit the ground running and take a ‘hands on’ interest in business processes throughout the organization while being equally effective at maintaining a strategic focus to ensure appropriate checks and balances are in place. WHAT WILL YOU DO AT FOXQUILT AS THE DIRECTOR OF FINANCE?  

This is the most important financial role in the organization. As the company’s first full-time Director of Finance, you will be part of the Senior Leadership Team. You will provide insightful analysis and sound financial advice to our C-suite Executives. You will also be directly responsible for accounting, finance, forecasting, strategic planning, budgeting, auditing, reporting, deal analysis, negotiations, investor relationships, governance of payroll and partnership compliance for both the US and Canadian market.

As the Director of Finance, you will: 

  • Be a member of the Senior Leadership Team
  • Participate in hiring top talent to build out your Finance Team and provide them with direction, coaching, and career guidance
  • Report directly to our CFO and CEO
  • Provide strategic analysis of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements 
  • Support month-end and year-end close process
  • Develop and design alternative income statement views that provide insight into the business’ financial and operational performance
  • Build and lead our financial planning function, which includes financial strategy, financial analysis, financial reporting, and revenue and budget forecasting
  • Provide leadership in systems, controls and procedures in preparing the company for exponential growth and successful partnerships with multinational corporations
  • Collaborate with auditors to ensure proper compliance with all regulations
  • Provide evidence-based recommendations for improvements in operational processes and effectiveness
  • Manage the payroll process 
  • Design and develop internal controls for all financial transactions and reporting
  • Create strong internal controls and establish processes to audit important business processes on a quarterly basis
  • Reconcile bank accounts, credit card accounts, and payment processing clearing accounts



WHAT DO YOU NEED TO BE OUR DIRECTOR OF FINANCE? 

Education

  • Canadian Accounting Designation (CPA preferred) 
  • Masters Degree in Business, Finance, Accounting (or a related discipline) 
  • 7+ years of full-time progressive experience in financial management roles

Experience

  • Managing or coordinating a Finance Team 
  • Full cycle accounting experience
  • Managing general ledger functions and month/year-end close processes
  • Experience interacting with and presenting to senior management
  • Dealing with investors and raising capital (preferred)
  • Familiarity with US corporate taxes (preferred)
  • Experience in Insurtech/Fintech (preferred) 
  • Experience in the US Market(preferred) 
  • Experience working in a high growth company (preferred)
