Job Description

The Bank for International Settlements has an exciting opportunity available for a Senior Network Engineer. You will contribute to the team as a technical lead and will architect, implement and automate advanced networking technologies with a special focus on Cisco ACI and SD Access. In providing operational support for the Bank’s networking technologies and solutions, you will have the opportunity to work in a hybrid environment with exposure to traditional on-premise infrastructure, software-defined networking and public cloud environments.

Responsibilities:
The core of the role will be to work on automation of IT infrastructure, throughout the organisation, including cloud and on-premise

 

Main duties will include:

  • Optimization of technology: reducing manual work and risk of errors (in tasks related to IT infrastructure (by introducing automation platforms and capabilities.
  • Business Agility: increasing the agility of IT by providing automation through standard and repeatable interfaces.
  • Resilience: ensuring that activities are undertaken in accordance with the Bank’s standards. Incorporating resilience practices to make sure solutions are adequately protected and sustained during times of adversity.
  • Technology Strategy: supporting the selection of technology (automation, monitoring and resilience).
  • IT Operations: Maintaining high quality networking services and reducing the risk of error in configuration changes by developing practices based on Configuration-as-Code.

Requirements:
Must have:

  • Experience in designing, implementing and supporting network operation systems (Software Defined Networking ACI and SD Access)
  • Knowledge of Cisco IOS, IOS-XE and NXOS
  • Experience with DevOps practices
  • Fluency with scripting languages

 

Nice to have:

  • Experience with other technology platforms (Palo Alto, Infoblox, F5, Riverbed)
  • Experience in public cloud infrastructure (MS Azure preferred)
  • Consistent track record in provision of third-level support and design input in an enterprise environment.
  • A university degree in in computer science, or another IT-related technical field
