Intern Data Information Technology

Job Description

Development of credit risk analysis tool

Do you find pleasure in solving the toughest puzzles? Are you interested in combining statistical algorithms with software programming? And would you like to join an ambitious and fast growing software company? Than we found you the perfect internship!

At Simbuka we develop software for banks, leasing companies and microfinance institutions that operate in developing and emerging countries. Especially in these countries, a large share of the population has no formal income and no registered ownership. To serve this part of the population, our clients will have to lend money based on a scorecard with estimated income, estimated property and credit risk indicators derived from an analysis of for instance demographics, financial behavior, social network, social behavior, experience and education. Unfortunately however, most financial institutions in developing countries lack the skills and capacity to conduct a solid portfolio analysis and to design a good scorecard. That is why we are looking for an intern that will help us to design software for the automatic analysis of credit data and the automatic recommendation of potential credit risk indicators.

Simbuka:

Simbuka consists of a bunch of innovative, no-nonsense and ambitious young people. As datamining intern you will work from our office in Best (close to Eindhoven, the Netherlands) and you will mainly cooperate with the risk management and software developments teams. Both teams are relatively small and consist of down-to-earth, easygoing people. It is our philosophy that employees should determine by themselves what working hours, dresscode, equipment and other things they feel most comfortable with, while we take care of bringing out the best in them and of collectively building something exceptional.

Profile:

We are looking for a student at graduate level with an IT (or quantitative) back ground that has analyzed large databases with (open-source) statistical data analysis software and that has at least some experience with software development. Our real superstar has experience with object-oriented programming, automatic software testing and a basic understanding of PHP, MySQL, XML, JSON, HTML(5), CSS(3) and Javascript. But in case you still miss one of the requested competences, don’t worry, that is what you are an intern for, we will gladly help you to develop yourself in this.

Our offering:

  • An easygoing, ambitious and social development team
  • An innovative and rapidly growing company, with a flat organization structure
  • A work culture that offers space for every employee to contribute with his/her own competences
  • Flexible working hours and working conditions, facilitating you to perform whenever and wherever you feel most comfortable to do so
  • A competitive compensation package
  • Opportunities to further elaborate on the assignment whilst working part-time or full-time for our company
  • A not so super fancy office building (yet), of which we still manage to make a pleasant work environment
