We’re looking for talented, motivated undergrads who want to work on real problems with a world-class team.
We have paid internships available in our front-end, back-end and web operations teams. If you're passionate about tech, care about learning and finding elegant solutions, and want to work with like-minded engineers, we want to hear from you.
We're nimble, deploying every day, and we're doing our most ambitious work right now – working with government and multi-national companies to build GoCardless Pro, and integrating with more banking systems to expand our offering across Europe.
At the same time we’re already processing millions of pounds of payments every day, so there's no space for inconsistent data or downtime. We maintain reliability while iterating on our product by having a test-suite we can rely on, and prioritising code review.
As a dev team, learning and mentoring are core to our values: we send our team to conferences and run internal talks on subjects both technical and general. We’re involved in the wider tech community too, regularly hosting meetups and hackdays, and speaking at external events to share our knowledge, skills and passion.
You’ll be treated as a fully fledged member of the team from day one, working on interesting, challenging projects that are integral to our product and to the company’s success. You’ll work closely with experienced engineers and we’ll encourage you to learn new technologies and expand your awareness of the full stack.
You’ll also get an insight into how a fast-growing tech company works and how the different areas of our business interact.
You should apply if:
We’ll consider applicants for placements lasting for 8 weeks or longer and we’ll pay a competitive salary.
We’re building the payments network for the internet. Join us.
Since GoCardless was set up in 2011, we have been focussed on simplifying Direct Debit and opening up access to companies who could never previously use it. We already process over $1bn each year for thousands of businesses, and we are growing fast.
We work with a huge range of organisations: small gyms and scout groups use us to reduce admin; fast growing companies like Funding Circle use us to power their growth; established institutions like the Guardian use us to dramatically reduce failure rates.
Our ambitions go beyond this: we want to break down barriers so that businesses can quickly and simply start taking payments from anyone, anywhere in the world.
Over the last year, we’ve expanded our offering for larger organisations, like the Guardian and the UK Government. We’ve also added European Direct Debit schemes, so multinational companies can collect payments across Europe with ease. We’ve recently launched in France and Germany, and in the coming year we’ll continue our global expansion, as we create a global network for recurring payments.
We’re London-based, and backed by some of the world’s leading investors including Balderton Capital, Accel Partners, Passion Capital and Y Combinator.
