Job Description

Who you are

We don’t have a long list of requirements where skills and experience are concerned. Instead, all that we ask is that you are a skilled, caring, invested, passionate engineer!

We want to hear from people who love building things, creating new stuff, learning new technologies and skills and working with other great people across all different teams and areas to create a fantastic product.

Who we are

Starling is creating an app that will replace the current account for a generation of mobile consumers. We are a licenced bank that doesn’t really act like a bank at all.

Whilst there are FinTechs, challenger banks and me-too's out there, Starling is in a category of one. You won't find us trying to fit into anyone else's image of what banking or tech start-up should look like.

In 2016 we announced our latest funding round of $70M and were approved as a bank by the regulator so now we are scaling up to deliver on our promises.

To support our mission to create the world’s best current account and help consumers have a better relationship with their money we are building a full-stack bank from scratch, using the latest in technology to create a bespoke experience, delivered through your phone. To help us do this, we are looking for fantastic technologists from a variety of backgrounds and with a range of skills to join a small, dynamic and agile team of technologists, entrepreneurs, designers, brand and customer experts with a flat structure to build a next generation bank.

Our existing engineers work in areas such as:

  • Java server architecture
  • Core Banking
  • User Experience and Customer Experience
  • User Interaction
  • DevOps
  • Site Reliability
  • Mobile development

Could you see yourself here? We’d love to hear from you!

A can-do attitude, belief in our vision, and a willingness to roll-up your sleeves and get stuck in to anything and everything.
