In 2016 we announced our latest funding round of US$70m and were approved as a bank by the regulator – and one year later we became the first mobile-only current account in the UK.

To support our growth, we’re looking for someone to lead Starling’s Office Technology Support Team, which provides and manages all the office technology resources used by staff to perform their roles - everything from laptops / desktops and the software installed on them to the office network and external connectivity.

The Office Technology Support Manager leads the bank’s Office Technology Support Team in the provision, maintenance and management of all Office IT hardware and software as well as being responsible for the 1st line support of third party office IT services and the management of office IT supplier relationships.

The vast majority of our staff use macbooks and a variety of cloud-based (SaaS) services but there is also a small number of windows machines; we have comparatively simple office networks, wired and wireless, supporting all our employees’ and guests’ devices and an ever-increasing audiovisual estate with dozens of screens and projectors powered by an assortment of networked Raspberry Pis, ChromeCasts and AppleTVs.

Responsibilities

  • Prioritising, management and delivery of 1st and 2nd line office technology support
  • Delivery and management of office technology projects: roll-outs, any non-automated upgrades, patches
  • Ownership of all office technology support issues, upgrades and maintenance activities
  • Mentoring, professional development and management of the Office Technology Support Team members
  • Definition, implementation and execution of Office Technology Support processes and procedures to auditable standard in line with company policies and procedures
  • Monitoring and continually improvement of the Office Technology Support function
  • Management of support and maintenance relationships with third party office IT suppliers

REQUIREMENTS

We’re looking for someone with experience of managing a support function who remains comfortable with hands-on problem-solving and will be proactive in finding ways to keep our office technology running smoothly while all the time striving to keeps things simple.

The ideal candidate would be comfortable applying the benefit of their experience to the challenges we face as we scale up our organisation but have the courage and flexibility to find and choose unconventional approaches where appropriate.

We’d like to see:

  • Experience of running an IT support function or senior responsibility in a support team
  • Some line management experience or at least evidence of mentoring and overseeing the training of less experienced staff
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organisational, team management and prioritisation skills
  • Experience of Apple Mac support in a corporate environment including MDM, DEP and VPP
  • Experience managing Google G-Suite and other SaaS products in a corporate environment
  • Hands on experience in hardware, software and networking troubleshooting
  • Solid understanding of IP networking, firewalls, wifi, managed switches including Cisco equipment (preferably CCNA certified)
  • Experience of Microsoft Windows support in a corporate environment
  • Some understanding of iOS and Android mobile devices would be beneficial
  • Some experience of Amazon AWS and Google GCP would be beneficial
