Job Description

As a Product Manager you are at the pulse of innovation and effectively turn great ideas into awesome products. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing product strategy, gathering and prioritizing product requirements, technical specifications, and working closely with cross-disciplinary staff to execute the delivery of the product and ensure goals are met. As a Product Manager, you are an excellent communicator, and have a proven ability to lead and launch web based products & services.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with internal business units to understand business goals & objectives
  • Generate product plans that consider relevant customer requirements and future initiatives
  • Lead the creation of innovative product features and become the champion of your product vision
  • Collaborate, manage and facilitate various meetings with business units to prioritize and solution requirements
  • Define and document product strategy & requirements for product features, as well as defining and tracking metrics critical to the success of the initiative
  • Focus on product excellence almost as much as process excellence and can play a major role in user research, design brainstorming, and product decisions.
  • Proactively identify and resolve strategic issues that may impair the team’s ability to meet strategic, financial and technical goals
  • Serve as the product owner on Agile/SCRUM development teams, managing the product backlog, including prioritization and management of solutions
  • Compile and analyze data to evaluate success, challenges and opportunities
  • Provide input to functional teams on resource negotiation, managing workload, and setting schedule
  • Understand and explain from a technical perspective existing functionality, as well as future requirements, related to the product(s)
  • Conduct competitive analysis relative to feature sets, underlying technology, product workflow, usability, etc. to establish differentiation and feature/benefit statements
  • Apply usability principles and best practices design to specify user interfaces that enhance the end user experience.
  • Provide written status reports to senior management regarding project status, task, and issues/risks
  • Communicate with clients and provide them with status updates on current projects and related aspects
  • Support the Technical Operations team in the triage & troubleshooting of production concerns
  • Participate in the deployment process of new software releases
  • Contribute to a team culture of ownership, accountability, respect, and partnership
  • Have the technical chops to keep up with a fast-paced discussion about system architecture.

Skills and Expertise Required

  • Product management or equivalent experience, with a track record of delivering web based products & services
  • Ability to understand technical architecture of complex and scalable web applications
  • Passion for designing simple, intuitive user experiences
  • Technical knowledge in the areas of SaaS based systems, preferably transaction platforms, web service protocols (REST, SOAP), databases (MySQL), database UI tools, and various communication protocols
  • Fluent in Agile development practices with extensive experience leading Agile development teams
  • Must be comfortable and experienced with influencing and negotiating for priorities with senior leadership as well as technical teams
  • Strong communication, client facing and presentation skills using PowerPoint & BI tools (e.g. QlikView, MicroStrategy, etc)
  • Able to effectively manage clients and their expectations
  • Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Proficient in Excel, Visio, PowerPoint

Optional Skills and Expertise

  • Mortgage appraisal background an asset
  • Certified Scrum Product Owner
  • Knowledge of: XML formats, MISMO
  • Strong project management experience

Education and Training Required

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent, Computer Science degree preferred
  • 4+ years managing, defining and building SaaS based products
  • 4+ years of technical experience, ideally as a Technical / System Business Analyst
