Acorns is seeking an ambitious Finance & Strategy Analyst to enable, inform and improve strategic and financial decision-making across the company. This role will work directly with the VP of Finance and Senior Director of Corporate Strategy & Development as well as teams throughout the organization, including product, engineering, marketing and operations.

Within 1 month, you will:

  • Introduce yourself to the organization
  • Develop a deep understanding of the product, business model, and competitive landscape

Within 6 months, you will:

  • Develop and maintain relevant competitive landscapes
  • Actively mine data from our SQL databases and use it to predict short-term and long-term trends for making strategic business decisions
  • Work with internal groups to undertake ad hoc analysis of trends emerging in the business

Within 12 months, you will:

  • Develop, maintain and enhance financial models including annual budgets and forecasts
  • Assist in monthly financial reporting and variance analysis of forecast/actuals and key KPIs
  • Develop KPI frameworks to track team-specific and company-wide performance
  • Conduct internal analysis on performance of the company’s different products and business units
  • Support strategic decision making, which will include analytics initiatives such as financial modeling, go-to-market strategy, competitive analysis, channel performance measurement and partnership negotiations
  • Create presentations that clearly articulate findings and next steps, and communicate those findings to key stakeholders across the Company

What you will bring to Acorns:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or other relevant field
  • Two or more years of relevant industry experience with financial modeling (e.g. investment banking, private equity, corporate finance, management/strategy consulting)
  • Excellent proficiency in Excel
  • Knowledge of SQL
  • Outstanding analytical abilities. Successful candidates must be able to: a) get data from research or a data analytics query, b) analyze data, c) draw conclusions from analyses, and d) organize and present data in a logical manner
  • Excellent communication skills and able to create compelling presentations and present information to peers and executives alike
  • Detail oriented with a history of delivering quality work within deadlines
  • Self-starter with a strong sense of ownership, comfortable working in a start-up environment
  • Exceptional judgement and maturity, including an ability to execute independently and work with team members of all levels
  • Basic understanding of the fintech landscape
