Job summary

Red Hat's Customer Experience and Engagement (CEE) team is looking for a Technical Program Manager with a full understanding of industry standard project and program management practices and familiarity navigating complex IT projects to join us in Westford, MA. In this role, you will manage highly complex program to successful completion from initiation to delivery and work with stakeholders within CEE to coordinate cross-functional teams on projects of diverse scope. You'll help to instill organizational program management discipline and serve as an ambassador and evangelist for the adoption of program life cycle and project management fundamentals, principles, and methodologies throughout the CEE team. In addition to project management experience in a complex and global technical organization, you'll need to have a collaborative mindset and passion for motivating the workplace.

Primary job responsibilities

  • Guide the delivery of customer-focused testing and documentation to enhance the interoperability and usability of Red Hat's offerings
  • Under minimal direction, create and evolve the program strategy based on alignment with company and stakeholder objectives
  • Build and control program requirements, scope, and change management issues
  • Identify program success criteria and establish metrics for measuring key program outcomes
  • Develop and communicate program roadmaps and establish clear program milestones
  • Lead project planning, scheduling, monitoring, and reporting activities for program-related initiatives
  • Determine, monitor, and review all program and project economics to include costs, operational budgets, staffing requirements, resources, and risk management
  • Develop and effectively deploy program communications and establish clear reporting structure for projects
  • Manage project change using repeatable change control methodologies and clear communication with project stakeholders
  • Integrate and use specific industry and company-standard project management and technical delivery methodologies (e.g., project management methodologies based on PMI standards and the CEE Program Management Life Cycle)
  • Coach and mentor junior-level project or program managers when necessary

Required skills

  • 7+ years of experience working in a program or project management role, managing complex technical projects
  • PMI Project Management Professional (PMP) or Program Management Professional (PgMP) certification(s)
  • Record of successfully managing high-complexity IT-related programs in multicultural and multidisciplinary teams
  • Familiarity with agile and waterfall project management methodologies
  • Experience establishing and contributing to process improvements
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills in English; solid interpersonal and leadership skills and analytical abilities
  • Ability to work effectively across a widely diverse management team as well as a broad spectrum of internal partners
  • Detail-oriented and able to work in a very fast-paced environment
  • Ability to articulate the program and project management value proposition and serve as an evangelist for project management techniques and methodologies
  • Practical experience with Linux operating systems and open source software development is a big plus
  • PRINCE2, Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL), Certified Scrum Master (CSM), Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO), Six Sigma, MSPM, or Prosci Certified Change Manager (CCM) certification(s) are a plus
  • Experience with IT support management methodologies and techniques is a plus
