Klarna is one of Europe’s fastest growing companies offering secure payment solutions for products and services bought online. In our client portfolio we have some of Europe’s largest e-merchants and we are constantly expanding. Needless to say our Commercial department plays an integral role in this effort and to fuel our continued growth, we are currently looking for a Business Development Manager to strengthen our UK team based out of our London office.

What you will be doing
In this position your work will be focused around driving profitable growth by developing business relationships with new merchants in the UK market. You will be dedicated towards medium to large merchants and be responsible for identifying, scoping and developing new clients with a focus on a specific region of the country. Building new client relationships, you will lead the effort of signing major retailers with the support of our pre- sales and sales-integration teams. However you will also work closely with various other departments such as Product, Marketing and Credit Risk in order to always exceed expectations in your delivery. The length of our sales cycles can vary but are usually long, making commitment and long-term perspective key aspects of your skillset.

Specifically the role will include the following:

  • Identify and establish relationships with new potential merchants and extol the benefits of Klarna's suite of payment solutions
  • Demonstrate the value of our diverse payment options for the merchant via presentations, face to face meetings and calls 
  • Prepare and share opportunity pipeline updates with the UK Management team with relevant KPIs to track progress

Who you are
We are not going to lie; if sales is not in your blood this position is probably not for you. We are looking for someone who is eager to develop her or his skillset and who gets a rush from closing new business. You already have a few years of sales experience, probably working in an e-commerce or fintech related organisation, and you have a degree in economics or finance at a BA level.

Furthermore you are keen to utilize the analytical skills you have acquired to help clients increase their business through the products you offer. You enjoy selling complex products and when we call your references they will tell us that you combine a deep understanding of your client’s business with a solid knowledge of your own product offering when you show up to meetings.

You communicate effortlessly on all levels of an organisation, be it internal or external, and you are always willing to go that extra mile in order to make your clients happy. To succeed in this role you will also have to maintain a high work pace and always take the opportunity to develop yourself and Klarna. All in all we are looking for a GSD specialist (Get Stuff Done) and your drive will be what sets you apart from other candidates.
