About Qapital
We are a team of designers, behavioral scientists and financial technologists on a mission to build a new banking experience from scratch, starting with an automated savings product that has already helped over a 400,000 users in the U.S. save hundreds of millions toward their goals. In 2017, we launched a checking account, and have a pipeline of other banking services like Invest coming very soon. Our app has been awarded Most Innovative App by Google and been featured in Apps We Love by Apple, and we are proud of our high user ratings.
We work with Dan Ariely, our Chief Behavioral Economist, to create innovative tools that help people become masters of their financial lives. Tools that are useful to everyone, but accessible to anyone. Tools that give people control when they want it, and automation when they don’t. Tools that help people put their money towards what matters most.
Qapital is looking for an enthusiastic and talented Java Backend Developer to join our team in Stockholm.
Skills and requirements
Here’s what we really need you to be able to have from day one.
The Qapital backend systems are structured in large part according to the Microservices pattern, and expose a RESTful HTTP API to our client apps. The core services are all developed in house, while we integrate with multiple external platform providers for more low-level banking infrastructure services. These are some of the technologies we currently use.
Further we believe you have a degree in computer science or similar. Although not needed we see value if you have experience from the banking/financial industry, have been working with high security applications, or have been working on the front-end side with web or native apps.
We offer
Accelerate your career within an international company and succeed in an environment where you will have the possibility to make a daily impact.
Involvement. Take responsibility for the entire app development process, and be part of a fantastic journey within a dynamic booming business. We typically focus the entire team, from product owners and designers to developers and operations engineers, on one feature because we think that with teamwork comes great innovation and knowledge sharing.
Flexibility. We appreciate meeting up in the office but we can also work from anywhere anytime if that makes our lives easier.
Great colleagues. The people at Qapital come from different backgrounds but all share the same passion for technology and product development.
Personal development. We aim to hire the best people and make sure they’re given the right environment to continue to grow. You will be given the opportunity to go to the best conferences, lunch and learn with your colleagues, and explore new interests in our recurring Hackday’s.
Qapital is an entrepreneur-driven company where dedication and ownership is extremely important. Therefore we encourage all our employees to take part in our equity program.

Launched in 2012, and led by Founder & CEO, George Friedman, Qapital is a new kind of banking experience that empowers people to maximize their happiness by saving, spending, and investing with their goals in mind. By blending behavioral psychology with technology, Qapital provides people with the tools they need to make managing money easy and fun.
The Qapital app is designed to help users better understand their saving, spending, and investing habits by highlighting the tradeoffs made when managing money. It allows users to save for their real-life goals with customizable, automated deposits that are linked to their everyday actions, like riding the bus, going to the gym, or buying a coffee. To help users spend more intentionally, Qapital provides an FDIC-insured checking account, Qapital Visa® Debit Card, and Weekly Spending Target tool to track day-to-day spending. And for more long-term goals, Qapital Invest, which is set to launch in Spring 2018, will bring a goal-based and automated approach to the world of investing, offering users an effortless way to grow their money and plan for their future.
