Full time Business Development

Job Description

TransferWise is an international money transfer startup based in Shoreditch (the hub of London’s startup scene), co-founded by Skype’s first employee and backed by the likes of Andreessen Horowitz, Sir Richard Branson, and PayPal founder Max Levchin. We've turned the world of international payments for consumers on its head. Now we are going strong after businesses and marketplaces with our business payout API.

We’ve recently opened the TransferWise platform to businesses and marketplaces making high volumes of international and domestic payouts. With local payouts in over 60 countries, including UK Faster Payments, our payouts are faster, more reliable, highly scalable, and cheaper than the alternatives.

We’re looking for an energetic, slightly geeky, product focused, curious, relationship building closer who knows their way around a payout API and will get great satisfaction driving business payments through the TransferWise API.

You will:

Enthusiastically become an expert on all aspects of TransferWise including our technology, the quirks of INR (for example) payouts, PEP and sanctions checks, local payment systems and Estonian saunas.
Close deals with EU and UK businesses and marketplaces.
Successfully onboard your client to the TransferWise API - commercials, technicals, compliance, and relationship building.
Prioritize inbound and outbound leads to make the highest impact for customers and TransferWise
Be a leader in the sales and business development team.
Work closely with our internal teams such as compliance, operations, technical support and finance to find solutions to customers needs, problem-solve issues, and evolve the API product.
Must Haves:

A proven track record of being able to deliver exceptional sales results, especially from an early stage in the product’s development. You’ll be ready to show what these are, and how you made them happen.
Experience in the technology or payment industry, with focus on business development, sales, and product.
You’re happy to demo an API and can go deep on product.
Formidable with Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides (and Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
You share our passion for our customers and our little revolution - fairer, cheaper, faster, and more convenient international payments.
You share our passion for:

Customers - you understand that the TransferWise exists solely to serve customers, and that includes our partners and our partner’s customers.
Teamwork - you value teamwork and never let ego ruin a collaborative atmosphere.
Goal Oriented - you are extremely goal-oriented and find ways to achieve your goals even if everything is constantly changing around you.
Flexibility – you value all ideas and make sure the best idea wins. You are flexible to re-evaluate your goals every once in awhile.
Constantly developing yourself – you realise that there are always better and more efficient ways of doing things.
In return, you’ll have the chance to work in a fun, friendly atmosphere with plenty of opportunities to grow and be part of our revolution. We'll offer you a salary of £70k+ depending on experience, your own slice of the revolution in the form of stock options, and a host of other benefits including private health insurance, pension and a lot of free food. You can even bring your pets into the office.

Some important stuff we would like you to know
To meet our regulatory obligations as a licensed financial services company, TransferWise needs to take background checks on all new hires, which may include Criminal and Credit checks. Please discuss with the Recruiter if you have any concerns regarding this process.

We want to make sure that our recruitment process is accessible to everyone. So if you need any reasonable adjustments – at any point in the process – we’ll do our best to help. Just let us know what you need on your application form, or drop us an email at adjustments@transferwise.com. You might need a reasonable adjustment if you’ve got a disability. Or maybe you live overseas, and you’d prefer to meet us over Skype.

Please don’t send anything to the adjustments address if you’re a recruiter, or if you’re making a speculative application. We do work with recruiters from time to time – but only through LinkedIn. And we only accept job applications when a position is actually open. So you’re better off just checking the recruitment pages regularly.
