Job Description

TransferWise is the clever new way to move money between countries. Co-founded by Skype's first employee and backed by some of the planet's most experienced innovators, including Sir Richard Branson and PayPal’s Peter Thiel, TransferWise is disrupting the world of international money transfer. That means flipping a gazillion dollar industry on its head and taking power away from banks and the establishment.

We're currently 650 people strong, and moving £950 million (equivalent) every month. If you're looking for a stuffy financial company, the back button beckons. You define where to apply yourself without waiting on anyone to tell you what to do.

TransferWise is on the hunt for a Finance BI Analyst to join us in our Tallinn office.

What you will be doing:

  • You will help us make accurate analytical data available and easily accessible to various data consumers within the business so that they have all the information to control the business and make business decisions.
  • You will get behind the scene of our business transactions, numbers, reporting and can tangibly support keeping maturity, compliance, and availability of our financials for both internal decision making and external regulators and authorities.
  • You will help us manage and develop financial data structures, financial data analytical layer and making Transferwise financials accurate, clearly understandable and useful for internal decision making and reporting.

Depending on your passion and skills you will be digging into the data and processes, helping us keeping the confidence in our financials, planning and driving the vision of how we improve usability and availability of financial data to the people, developing exciting and really innovative models and processes to understand our financials deeper.

What we are looking for:

  • You have technical background: SQL for you as fluent as the English language – you can easily do yourself simple, complex and optimized queries, plan and evaluate OLTP and OLAP data structures, advice on data structure and attribution based on current and future needs.
  • You see a bigger picture of business processes and data flows is what you do when you hear new information, analyse data flows. You should be able to evaluate how some decision in other parts of Transferwise product will affect periodic reporting and financial compliance in particular country/entity
  • You are ambitious and you can envision what the future of TransferWise can be.
  • You are data-driven with a structural and pedantic approach. You need to be able to prioritise the value you can add. Accounting, financial, auditor, regulator and Transferwise team requirements, as well as data quality, should always be part of each of your decision.

Nice to haves:

  • It would be nice if you have experience in finance/accounting, you are oriented in basic accounting and financial terminology so that you can easier understand, evaluate and explain implications of product decisions on Transferwise group accounting processes

Benefits:

Apart from a competitive salary and all-expenses-paid company holidays (which are completely insane), stock options in one of Europe’s most hotly tipped startups, a shiny new laptop of your choice and team lunch every week, you won’t get much in the way of extras. However, we will give you a fun, friendly atmosphere, plenty of opportunities to grow and the chance to be part of our little revolution. Oh, and coffee, there’s plenty of coffee.

Some important stuff we would like you to know

To meet our regulatory obligations as a licensed financial services company, TransferWise needs to take background checks on all new hires, which may include Criminal and Credit checks. Please discuss with the Recruiter if you have any concerns regarding this process.

We want to make sure that our recruitment process is accessible to everyone. So if you need any reasonable adjustments – at any point in the process – we’ll do our best to help. Just let us know what you need on your application form, or drop us an email. You might need a reasonable adjustment if you’ve got a disability. Or maybe you live overseas, and you’d prefer to meet us over Skype.
