Job Description

Do you love building non-production environments? Can you bring your colleague’s requirements to life? Are you looking to work within a very fast-paced environment? If yes, then we may have the role for you!

As an IT Environments Specialist, you will be part of a super busy team who create realistic IT environments to test all the cool new technologies and modification we make. You will understand requirements gathered from colleagues to create life like settings that will give good insight into how our capabilities will respond to change. We work in an ever changing environment, so there will be lots of opportunity to get a first-hand glance of all the new amazing things we are trying to achieve.

So what would you be doing?...

• Building and maintaining amazing IT non-production environments
• Getting a real understanding of requirements and transpiring them into a technical components list
• Finding innovative ways to improve our environment provisioning, release management and code control process
• Making sure project delivery happens on time, and dealing with all obstacles along the way
• Recycling environments once they have been tested

You need to be this kind of person…

• Passionate about providing unparalleled levels of service and convenience for customers
• Prepared to stick at something - we get nervous if someone has jumped from job to job
• Comfortable prioritising several tasks and pieces of work

We always support colleagues to develop their skills.  But to be successful in this job you really do need to already be able to do most of these wonderful things...

• You will have great experience as an Environments Specialist, or have a background in building or supporting applications
• JBoss, T24, ODS, or IIB knowledge is absolutely pivotal in this role
• To be amazing in this role, it is essential for you to have a good understanding of Linux and Windows operating servers
• Experience with Jenkins, Puppet or Ansible would really get us excited

Diverse teams really are the best teams. We know that candidates (especially women, research tells us) may be put off applying for a job unless they can tick every box.  We also know that ‘normal’ office hours aren’t always doable, and while we can’t accommodate every flexible working request we are happy to be asked.  So if you are excited about working with us and think you can do much of what we are looking for but aren’t sure if you are 100% there yet… why not give it a whirl? Good luck!
