Job Description

Do you love the written word? Can you create powerful communications? Does developing and embedding a tone of voice with lots of personality float your boat? If yes, then we may have the role for you!

As the Copywriter, you will be based within our in-house creative studio. You will look after all the Bank’s copy requirements for our communications to business customers - from launching new products and services, to making sure our day-to-day service communications are executed brilliantly. As part of your role, you will help deliver our differentiated brand experience across every customer touchpoint.

So what will you be doing?...

• Writing communications throughout the customer journey and across multiple channels, including our website, apps and marketing activity
• Making sure we use the Metro Bank tone of voice consistently across all customer touchpoints
• Working with colleagues and agencies to develop and deliver best-in-class communications
• Delivering minor copy change requests as required
• Planning and looking after your own workload
• Setting service-level agreements for the wide and varied range of communication briefs

You need to be this kind of person…

• Passionate about providing unparalleled levels of service and convenience for customers
• Prepared to stick at something – we get nervous if someone has jumped from job to job
• Able to work and learn quickly in a fast paced, fun and dynamic environment

And whilst we always aim to train for skill where possible, on this occasion we are looking for someone who is already able to do all these wonderful things...

• We need you to have experience working as a Copywriter for a well-respected brand, ideally with some experience in business to business communications
• To be amazing in this role you will have previous involvement in making sure tone of voice guidelines are used effectively and brought to life
• Advertising agency or freelance experience would be great but is not essential
• An English, journalism, or art degree would be beneficial
• You need to be very organised and self-motivated• You got to have lots of new ideas, love improving things and bringing people with you

Diverse teams really are the best teams. We know that candidates (especially women, research tells us) may be put off applying for a job unless they can tick every box.  We also know that ‘normal’ office hours aren’t always doable, and while we can’t accommodate every flexible working request we are happy to be asked.  So if you are excited about working with us and think you can do much of what we are looking for but aren’t sure if you are 100% there yet… why not give it a whirl? Good luck!
