We recently launched a new user experience that lays the foundation for a future where Wealthfront is the only financial advisor our clients will ever need. To accomplish this, we redesigned and rebuilt our frontend architecture to deliver a dashboard that provides personalized advice and will ultimately be the center of our clients’ financial lives.
We’re looking for engineers who are excited to focus on product engineering across our frontend web server and client-side application and to contribute to other key parts of our infrastructure.
What You'll Work On
Roswell: As frontend engineers, we collaborate with a world-class and highly technical design team. Through this collaboration, we developed Roswell, our UI toolkit and visual style guide for making beautiful and standards compliant online products. It is designed for modern web browsers and uses reusable React components, performant CSS animations and our SASS testing library, Sassaby.
Desktop and Mobile Web Application: We rely on a JRuby on Rails application to serve desktop and mobile web traffic. Some of the interesting challenges we’ve worked through include scaling to hundreds of concurrent requests with multi-threading on the JVM and using Java’s Reflection API to better facilitate communications with our backend services.
Test, Build and Deployment Infrastructure: We deploy our frontend services multiple times per hour and are constantly scaling to support more users, services, and engineers, so we’re heavily invested improving this infrastructure. We ascribe significant value to i) tools and libraries that keep our automated tests reliable and fast and ii) stable build and deployment infrastructure that scales as we grow.
Data Platform: We strive to make decisions using objective criteria and automate manual processes wherever possible. As such, frontend engineers frequently contribute to a range of projects on our data platform spanning from building frontend infrastructure operability dashboards and visualizing the results of A/B tests to gathering data to make informed product or technology decisions.
What You Have
3+ years in a frontend engineering role
Advanced knowledge of vanilla JavaScript
Experience with Ruby on Rails or similar server-side framework (such as Express or Django)
Real passion for agile, test-driven development, continuous integration, and automated testing
BS, MS, or PhD in computer science, math, physics, or related field
Everyone across the financial spectrum deserves to live secure and rewarding lives. In order to successfully serve clients across the United States, the Wealthfront team is focused on hiring team members with a diverse range of backgrounds, experiences and perspectives. We are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity at our company. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status.

About us:
Enigma is a rapidly growing enterprise technology company based in the Flatiron neighborhood of New York City. We are Series B funded, partnering with some of the best investors in the world: New Enterprise Associates, Two Sigma Ventures, Comcast Ventures, Crosslink Capital, American Express Ventures, and others.
Founded in 2012, Enigma was started based on the realization that there was tremendous potential in using public data to understand how the world works, but that it was untapped because the data is highly fragmented and disconnected. Enigma set out to change that by building and organizing one of the largest collections of public data in the world, and our big coming out party was winning TechCrunch Disrupts Battlefield in 2013. Our vision has remained steadfast, we want to empower people to interpret, and improve, the world around them. However, we have expanded our ability to realize this vision by combining our massive public data repository with an ecosystem of software and tools designed to link, resolve, enhance and apply data to help global-scale companies take on some of their hardest problems, ranging from preventing money laundering to ensuring patient safety.
We are proud to be an equal opportunity workplace and is an affirmative action employer. We are committed to equal employment opportunity regardless of race, color, ancestry, religion, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, age, citizenship, marital status, disability, gender identity or Veteran status.

As a Software Engineer at Enigma, you’ll work alongside a brilliant team of other curious, data-obsessed co-workers, who want to share the magic that Enigma products can bring to a customer. We build products to ingest large, diverse datasets, map them to ontologies, probabilistically identify likely connections, and then use these knowledge graphs to power applications to create transformative value - from saving lives to preventing financial crime. By applying Enigma technologies to real-world industry challenges, engineers at Enigma are responsible for enabling next-generation business processes for blue chip clients, one workflow, process, or team at a time. Software engineers are guided by four principles: “Always be shipping,” “Customer obsession,” “Strive for perfect,” and “Think big, start small.” Ultimately, we are excited about data’s impact on the world and are looking for engineers who are curious, generous and can hustle in a fast-paced environment.
What You Will Do:
Build the tools used by Enigma’s various teams and platforms
Help smooth out and standardize our release engineering tools
Deploy and handle monitoring and diagnostic of applications
Troubleshoot and fix infrastructure and application specific issues
Maintain and improve existing infrastructure automation
Build platform agnostic automation framework
Be creative; build services that we might not know we need
What we’re looking for:
Excellent engineering problem solving skills
5+ years of experience as a software engineer, working with different programming languages and paradigms.
Experience working with Linux/Unix systems, including solid scripting skills in Bash, Ruby, Go or Python
Good understanding of distributed systems, Linux internals and networking
Familiar working with AWS or GCP and their product offerings
Experience orchestrating containers using K8S, Nomad, Mesos or similar tools.
Experience troubleshooting complex distributed systems
Passionate about automation
Smart, low ego, and willingness to learn and teach
A sense of ownership, initiative, and drive
Appreciation for security, encryption, alerting, logging and auditing

LendInvest is the world’s largest online marketplace for property lending and investing, and is one of the UK’s fastest growing FinTech companies.
REQUIREMENTS
What’s the team is like?
We are using technology and innovation to make the process of owning and investing in property simple and straightforward. To date - we have loaned £1 billion, but we have set the bar much higher.
We’re striving to build a proper DevOps culture and looking for people highly motivated in doing the same and able to collaborate proactively with our engineering team.
We rely heavily on AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, Jenkins, Terraform, MySQL (with PHP, Node.js and React.js for development) as well as a great number of additional applications for functions such as monitoring and networking (prometheus, grafana, ELK).
As the DevOps Engineer alongside our 3rd party DevOps company you’ll be responsible for the infrastructure that keeps our platform moving. Relying entirely on cloud services, you’ll make sure it works as securely & quickly as it should. Amazon Web Services (AWS) provides the backbone of our infrastructure and we’re looking for people who can maintain and expand our use of it
What’s my day to day going to be like?
Support & expand - Maintain our AWS-hosted infrastructure. You’ll need to monitor and proactively plan and configure aspects of the infrastructure as well as liaising with other parties both internal and externally to improve our performance and improve reliability. As you would expect with a role such as this, when situations arise you may need to react to outages outside of the business day, to either deal with an issue or act as an escalation point
Coaching and mentoring the team - coach the wider engineering team on DevOps best practice including providing guidance and training.
Thinking out of the box and anticipate challenges - It is imperative we are not simply reactive, we must expect challenges and question technologies, procedures and thinking already in place, you will be expected to constantly review and challenge at all levels.
Versatile - We work using agile/lean methodologies. We’d much rather iterate and learn than assume we know all the answers
What we’d like you to have:
Technical skills: Linux admin, AWS and at least one scripting language (ruby, python etc)
Eagerness to learn - You have expertise with what you’ve worked on and an eagerness to learn where you haven’t worked before.
Team player - You don’t (always) work in isolation and are excited by the thought of using your team whilst involving product, experience design, engineering and more in the process.
Engineering excellence - Constantly looking for new ways to improve our infrastructure and leverage the capabilities AWS (and others) provide us with
It would be great if you have:
Technical skills: Terraform, Jenkins and knowledge of relational databases
Exposure to Docker and Kubernetes
BENEFITS
LendInvest Benefits Include
