Acorns is looking for a passionate user researcher to carry out research to help continue our mission of making saving and investing accessible and understandable. This role will be critical to ensure that we keep the customer at the center and never stop growing and improving as we look for ways to constantly optimize our current product and new products and features.

The Sr. Researcher will work under the direction and mentorship of the VP of Experience and will work closely with the Product, Design and Engineering teams. The researcher should be able to coordinate and execute research with little or no supervision.

Within 1 month, you will:

  • Get to know the product, design and engineering team members
  • Get to know the support team members and spend time with them to get up to speed from the front lines of how customers experience our app and the issues they commonly encounter
  • Establish research gaps, resources needed, and begin to develop a research plan
  • Begin to execute on a user testing and research plan
  • Identify ways that user research can be leveraged to drive business value and our key metrics

Within 6 months, you will:

  • Work closely with the product and design teams to conduct user testing on new products and features
  • Expand the breadth and depth of our user research and identify new methods and techniques to gain key insights
  • Establish metrics to better drive product decisions with data
  • Present information and findings at a company all hands meeting to evangelize user research and share with the company what is being worked on and accomplished

Within 12 months, you will:

  • Have a deep understanding of our product, our users. Who they are, what they love about Acorns and what they don’t
  • Conduct hundreds of hours of user research to ensure that every part of Acorns has been tested, vetted and optimized
  • Evangelize the results of user research throughout the organization to help everyone have a better understanding and empathy for our users
  • Make a meaningful and measured impact on our product

 What you will bring to Acorns:

  • Bachelor’s degree required (branches of psychology, human computer interaction, human factors, marketing, communication, market research, or related field)
  • 4+ years experience conducting user research for mobile or web apps; user testing, qualitative and quantitative research
  • Experience working on customer centric consumer products
  • Good interpersonal communication (both written and verbal)
  • Good organizational and analytical skills
  • Ability to translate research findings into actionable product improvements
  • Adaptable and quick learner that enjoys tackling a large variety of problems
  • Ability to conduct research with participants of all ages
  • Passion for user research, apps and personal finance
  • A natural curiosity that leads you to always wonder how and why people use our product in the way they do
  • A thirst for constant learning and improvement
