Job summary
Serve as an application-focused expert who creates possibilities, solves problems, and establishes strategic relationships with customers. The Red Hat Sales team is looking for a presales Application Platform Solutions Architect to join us supporting customers in St. Louis, MO. In this role, you'll need to have a balance of technical expertise in Java, passion for modern application development, and understanding of challenges faced by enterprise application developers. You'll help customers overcome these challenges by using Red Hat's technologies, including OpenShift by Red Hat and Red Hat JBoss Middleware, to adopt modern development practices like DevOps, microservices, and continuous integration (CI) and continuous delivery (CD). As an Application Platform Solutions Architect, you'll also need to have excellent communication and people skills because you'll be a key part of the first impression our customers have with Red Hat.
Primary job responsibilities
- Discover and analyze customer business and technical problems and connect them with the appropriate Red Hat's solution that aligns to their needs
- Create enterprise solutions that increase business value using OpenShift by Red Hat and the Red Hat JBoss Middleware portfolio
- Develop and conduct live demonstrations and educate prospective customers on the capabilities of Red Hat's solutions
- Guide and assist with proofs of concepts, workshops, and seminars
- Collaborate with product teams and the Product Engineering, Professional Services, and Sales teams to ensure excellent customer experience with our offerings and solutions
- Demonstrate expertise by speaking to user groups and at select conferences; share knowledge with your team members to allow them to learn from your work
Required skills
- 5+ years of experience in enterprise application architecture with development skills; experience in sales is a plus
- Previous Container-as-a-Service (CaaS) and Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) experience using OpenShift by Red Hat, Pivotal Cloud Foundry (PCF), Docker Enterprise Edition, Mesosphere, IBM Bluemix, or similar technology
- Practical experience with Java development technologies like Spring Boot, WildFly Swarm, or JEE (Red Hat JBoss Enterprise Application Platform, WildFly, Oracle WebLogic, or IBM WebSphere)
- Familiarity with Java development frameworks like Spring, Netflix OSS, Eclipse Vert.x, or Play and other additional technologies like Node.js, Ruby, PHP, Go, or .NET development
- Experience with application build automation tools like Apache Maven, Jenkins, and Git
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with a record of developing relationships at technical, management, and executive levels
- Willingness to travel up to 50%
- Experience with container and container orchestration technologies like Linux containers (Docker), Kubernetes, and the Open Container Initiative (OCI) project is a plus
