Job Description

As Ripple’s first internationally based legal counsel, you will be working with the legal team in the San Francisco and New York offices to provide best in class legal counsel to your Ripple clients. Not only is Ripple’s technology cutting edge, many of the legal problems we solve for are the first of such issues to be explored.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

  • Providing commercial support for sales and business development teams including drafting and negotiation of contracts
  • Advising clients on legal issues and best practices in a variety of areas
  • Researching and analyzing fact patterns that present issues of first impression for many jurisdictions
  • Handling legal matters in other areas like labor, competition, and corporate law as the need arises;
  • Collaborating with the legal team in San Francisco and colleagues from around the world.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:

The role requires strong leadership, communications and interpersonal skills and an ability to work across diverse teams and within a multinational, matrixed organization

  • Prior in house experience with an multinational technology company;
  • Significant experience drafting and negotiating software license, saas, partnership, and other commercial agreement internationally;
  • Prior experience working on international projects with a global team;
  • Experience managing outside counsel budgets and projects;
  • Pragmatic, solutions-based approaches to achieving business objectives in a legal and ethical manner;
  • Ability to interpret and apply laws to practical business scenarios;
  • Strong contract drafting and review skills with attention to detail;
  • Ability to work independently and with integrity;
  • Ability to travel to the United States at least twice per year;
  • Minimum of 7 years PQE;
  • General understanding of virtual currency, blockchain, and distributed ledger technology preferred;
  • Licensed and in good standing to practice law in any common law jurisdiction, preferably Singapore; and
  • Fluent English language skills; Ability to speak Mandarin is strongly preferred.
